Energy Efficiency
Our newly constructed homes adhere to the latest building regulations, ensuring optimal energy efficiency. Data from Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) indicates that not only are new builds generally larger, but they also consume less energy per square meter thanks to superior insulation, double glazing, central heating, solar panels, and LED lighting. According to the tables on Energy Performance of Buildings Certificates for September 2024, the average new build home measures 88.5 m², compared to 86 m² for existing homes.
The report titled ‘Watt a Save,’ conducted by the Home Builders Federation (HBF), analyzed government data on the energy efficiency of new builds versus older homes in October 2022, with updates in November 2024 that included calculations based on the Ofgem price cap from October 2024. The findings revealed that:
- New build homes emit up to 65% less carbon annually.
- 86% of new builds hold an A or B EPC rating, demonstrating increased energy efficiency.
- Energy bills could be reduced by up to 65%, potentially saving over £130 per month, which totals £1,574 annually.
